Rocky Patel Decade

The Rocky Patel Decade marks Rocky's first ten years in the cigar business, and it's widely regarded as one of his best blends. The recipe is famously secret — all that's confirmed is a dark Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over aged long-filler. It earned a 95 and the #15 spot on Cigar Aficionado's 2008 Top 25, then a #7 from Cigar Journal in 2013. A dark, oily Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper covers a blend of aged long-fillers that Rocky has never fully disclosed — part of the Decade's mystique. It's box-pressed and made at Nestor Plasencia's El Paraiso factory in Danlí, Honduras, the same factory behind much of the early Rocky Patel catalog. The profile is black cherry, nuts, and cream, with cedar, coffee, and spice and a sweet, lingering finish. It's rich but balanced, running medium to medium-full. The Toro gives the blend the room it needs to develop without turning heavy.
