Texas Sedge

Carex texensisTexas Sedge is a charming and versatile plant native to much of the eastern US, from New York south to Georgia and west to Oklahoma and Texas. It features bunches of soft, evergreen, fine-textured foliage. In spring, delicate spikelets peek through the lush foliage. Texas Sedge spreads by rhizomes and makes a wonderful ground cover that doesn't require mowing, though you can trim it occasionally at a high setting if you wish. It can handle light foot traffic, but adding stepping stones can make it even more inviting for frequent crossings. Additionally, Texas Sedge plays an important role in naturalizing and restoration efforts. In nature, it thrives in sandy woodlands and savannas. This adaptable sedge does well in both moist and dry soil in full sun to dappled shade.
