Not many things in life are as easy as a performing a tds test. A TDS test is the best way to tell if your membrane needs to be replaced. Fill a glass of water, insert the meter and press a button. If the membrane is not reducing the TDS by 90%... you need to replace the membrane... a new membrane gets 98-99% rejection rate. The LCD display on TDS meters will show a number.
