Antique Katana with a long blade, made by the swordsmith KUNIMASU, who was an in-castle dedicated blade maker of the Tosa domain in the Edo period, around 1680. The smith's name is inscribed on the blade tang. The blade has a characteristic tempered line pattern, called Kengata-Choji, or "spattered clenched hand-like shaped flower pattern" on a wavy line. An exquisite combination of Nioi (white misty pattern ) and deep Nie (coarser-grain martensite) on the blade. This blade proudly holds the prestigious TOKUBETSU Hozon paper "Extremely Well-Preserved Sword" certification by NBTHK (Japan Sword Preservation Society). This top-tier recognition elevates its value far beyond the standard certification. Smith's name is inscribed on the tang. Comes in a complete set of ornate mounting, including all metal fittings and a Tsuba hand guard.
