Thursday, August 21, 20252:00 – 3:30 pm ET Navigate Policy and Practice with Confidence In the past, it has been reasonably clear that pregnancy is covered under Title IX – though there has been confusion about what this actually requires of institutions. To further complicate the issue, Title IX practitioners have been left to undo the 2024 Biden guidance and revert back to the 2020 Title IX regulations, which do not outline detailed and broad protections to pregnant or parenting students, leaving many to wonder about the HOW. Join us on August 21, 2025 for a clear path forward on how to approach pregnant students as it relates to accommodation and support. Our presenters – both Title IX experts – will discuss how their institution has viewed previous and current guidance and what practices they have developed to ensure compliance. Help your staff alleviate their nerves in speaking with students about private medical information so they can handle these cases with equity-minded practice. Parenting students also have some protections under Title IX – the presenters will model talking through various scenarios to help you in determining reasonable practice/policy for both pregnant and parenting students so that you walk away with confidence on thinking through these situations with intentionality.  Topics Covered Gain crucial, actionable takeaways that will help you:  Review where injunctions are in place as well as updates on any pending legal challenges to the guidance so you can remain informed in your compliance-related decisions, even when compliance remains uncertain. Explore what does and does not constitute reasonable accommodations for both pregnant and parenting students and the various issues that need navigating in developing policy and practice surrounding these issues. Increase your confidence to handle cases and develop thoughtful solutions within the various iterations of guidelines. Understand clearly the difference between the previous and current guidance’s scope of who is defined and impacted as a pregnant and parenting student through a breakdown of the language.
