Shibru Dube came into coffee later than many producers and, at first, struggled to find a market forhis work. In 2023, on his way to meet a prospective buyer in Yirgacheffe, he was involved in amotorcycle accident that left him with two broken legs and sharply limited his ability to manage thefarm. Rising cherry prices only made the prospect of investing further in quality more difficult.More recently, with renewed buyer interest, Shibru has recommitted to specialty production. He nowworks alongside his son, Kefyalew, who helps manage the family’s coffee business while alsoteaching civics in Addis. What had looked like a stalled project is again being treated as a seriouspath forward, one that we’re thrilled to tread along with him. While it does make for a vibrant and exciting espresso, we'd recommend highlighting this offering on filter brews like a V60 to highlight the clarity and sweetness of the coffee!
