This is a detailed print of my original painting 'When The Blues Came, And The Rains Fell, He Was There'. About a year ago I had someone tell me that I talk and paint about my mental health, my struggles, and my heartache too much. I’ve never disagreed more strongly with someone! I believe with my whole heart that artists are put on this earth to create images, music, sculptures etc. that capture how others feel. That help people feel seen. That help them realize they are not alone. That put feelings and experiences that can’t be put into words, into art. Artists speak the language of the soul. I have connected with so many people over the unspoken words that they have felt through my artwork. So I’ll never stop creating art about the things I am experiencing and going through. Because I know there are people out there who think they are completely alone, and that no one understands. This is a place where I want you to feel seen. Recently I’ve found myself in a bit of blue, rainy season. I just haven’t seemed to be able to stop the tears. As much as I dread blue seasons, as much as I pray for the rains to stop, these seasons always remind me of how close He is. I might even feel closer to Him in these moments than when everything id going perfectly. I know He weeps with me, and I know He weeps with you. He is the one person who understands all the emotions and pain I cannot articulate. In this piece, the girl’s dress is a patchwork of different shades of blue. There have been seasons of my life where I have only felt a tinge of blue. Seasons where I have felt none at all. Seasons where I feel surrounded in a blue so deep and dark I fear I may never escape it. Throughout every different blue, He is there. I know he is there for all of your different seasons too. Not only is here there, but He weeps with you in the rain. We may not be able prevent the blues from coming and the rain from falling, but we can find peace in the knowledge that He is always always there. In the rain, in the hard, in the painful, in the waiting, in the sorrow. I hope this piece can be a reminder of His love for you. I use a beautiful, heavy-weight, acid-free paper for my prints.
