The Rampley Vintage Collection is made from archive silks recovered from decades of Italian textile production. The fabrics span 1962 to 1990, each one a time capsule to a different era of weaving. This Navy, Gold and Red Large-Scale Paisley Vintage Silk Tie is handmade in Italy using archive printed silk from the mills of Lake Como, the fabric dating from 1982. Archive 100% Silk c. 1982 150cm in Length 8cm Blade 3 Folds Self-Tipped Handmade in Italy ABOUT THE TIE The deep navy ground carries a large-scale paisley in gold, red, burnt sienna and brown, a pattern characteristic of the Como mills at their most generous. The repeat is bold and the colour palette warm, combining in a way that gives the tie real presence without tipping into noise. It is the kind of print that the early 1980s produced with particular confidence, and which has aged well precisely because it was never trying to be subtle. Each tie in The Vintage Collection is handmade in Italy, cut to our current silhouette. The construction and finish are identical to everything else we make. The difference is the cloth. HOW TO STYLE THIS TIE A paisley at this scale asks something of the rest of the outfit: keep it simple. A navy or charcoal suit and a white shirt give the tie the space it deserves. It works particularly well against tweed and flannel, where the texture of the cloth provides a counterpoint to the richness of the print.
