The series employs traditional Japanese woodblock printing techniques, which originated in the Edo period and gave rise to the expressive art form known as ukiyo-e. Since the 2010s, Adachi has been working with contemporary artists and master Japanese artisans to produce what they call “contemporary ukiyo-e.” It is printed on translucently thin yet durable washi paper, delicate and beautiful.
