The tall, disc-shaped body wears alternating vertical bands of cream, brown, and charcoal that break into intricate leopard-like spotting toward the rear body and fins, with yellow highlights on the tail and fin rays that really catch the light under reef lighting. When it flares its oversized dorsal and anal fins, the fish takes on that signature sail profile and looks nearly twice as tall, making for a striking centerpiece as it glides through open water. It's worth noting how this fish differs from the similar-looking Pacific Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma veliferum).
