Lonicera 'Serotina' Dutch Honeysuckle

Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina' is a deciduous climber with purple stems, oblong green leaves and reddish-purple buds that open to pink trumpets with white interiors. The fragrant blooms will continue throughout most of the summer. Lonicera 'Serotina's flowers are followed by red berries in mid to late summer. Also called Dutch Honeysuckle, 'Serotina' is a woody, twining perennial that needs sturdy support. Lonicera 'Serotina' prefers full sun to light shade and moist to average, well-drained humus-rich soil. It is somewhat drought tolerant once established. This honeysuckle is best in cooler regions and will benefit from afternoon shade in warmer areas. 'Serotina' blooms on old wood so prune just after flowering.
